Returns and Refunds

Online Returns Information:

  • In the event that your purchase is not suitable, for whatever reason, you have the right to return it to us.
  • Goods should be returned in new condition, unused, and with their original undamaged packaging.
  • We aim to process all returns within 72 hours. This may take slightly longer at busy times of the year. We will e-mail you once your return has been processed.
  • Any items returned will be refunded unless faulty or shipped in error.
  • If you wish to exchange an item for any reason, please place a new order for the items that you want.
  • Please note that it is your responsibility to pay for the return postage costs, no postage costs are refundable.
  • Goods may be returned for a refund within 30 days of receipt.
  • You do not need to contact us to notify us of your return unless the item is faulty or is outside of our 30-day policy.
  • Goods must be packaged securely to ensure they are not damaged in transit. The responsibility and liability of the goods remain with you until we are in receipt of the goods.
  • For health and safety reasons face masks cannot be returned for an exchange or refund.
  • Climbing & PPE Safety Equipment can only be returned on very strict conditions. Everything must be exactly as it was received, with packaging and labelling intact. If there is any sign or possibility that the goods have been used or contaminated then we regret that we are unable to accept a return on the grounds of consumer safety.
  • In the unlikely event that your purchase develops a fault, for whatever reason, then please contact us first either by telephone or email for further instructions. In the majority of cases, any faulty goods will have to be returned to us and then forwarded on to their respective suppliers for inspection. Please be aware that this process may take several weeks in some cases. Any postage costs paid will be refunded by THE CLIMBERS SHOP if a product is deemed as faulty and still under a manufacturer's warranty.

Microspikes are designed to fit onto any style of footwear to provide security and grip on icy and snowy ground. If you are a trail runner or regular hiker you'll probably never need a full on technical crampon, but there will be times when you need some extra grip when you encounter snow and ice. Microspikes are the answer, they will fit onto virtually any type of footwear, need no tools or adjustment and the spikes and chains adjust to grip nearly any surface — from ice and packed snow to wet rocks, concrete, wet grass and scree.

The original Kahtoola Microspike was always the best performing and easiest to fit Microspike available; and now they've gone and made it better! They have been beefed up with full stainless steel metal components, fully welded chains, a lower profile and lighter weight elastomer harness with reinforced eyelets and an improved integrated toe bale that keeps them secure over the front of your shoes/boots.

When they are not required they can be whipped off quickly and stored in stuff sack that is supplied with them.

    Light to carry. Easy and quick to put on Makes a huge difference when walking over crushed icy snow. Gave me great confidence that my foot will stay where I put it and not slide away. Highly recommended

    I have just bought Kahtoola Microspikes to supplement mu Yaktrax as I found I could still slip a little with them on. I am only talking about icy pavements and small hills not hills of Munro height. I havent used them yet but have friends who swear by them and use them on the cobbler instead of crampons. I look forward to wearing them, they are a bit tight to put on but hopefully this will save them from falling off

    Excellent on ice & frozen snow but have a tendency to ball up quickly when moving from ice/frozen snow to softer snow. Not as easy "To de-ball" as mountain crampons as the chains structure holds the ice balls securely.

    First time Ive had and worn spikes. Used on a 9mile walk on compacted snow, ice and soft snow. Brilliant on compacted snow and ice, which is what they are intended for. Walking through soft snow I accumulated ice balls on the chains making walking in snow harder than without them. They are not easy to put on or take off so I didnt try removing them for the soft snow section of my walk, just had to keep knocking off the ice balls with my walking poles. I was also a little concerned they might come off at the back whilst walking so I did periodically stop to try to pull them up a bit more, also not easy with gloves on or with cold hands. My boots are a ladies size UK8/EU42 and a medium fits pretty snuggly. They seem to be well made which you would expect for the price. Subject to the above limitations I am very pleased with them.

    Bought these because the recent hard freeze meant we could hardly get out of our garden. These have allowed us to continue walking, even on hard frozen ground. They feel well made and sturdy.

    Used these on Striding Edge in full winter conditions. They were excellent and probably better than crampons for mixed ground. The medium size fits a 42 boot securely and does not come off even on quite steep slopes. Much more comfortable to walk on compared with crampons and winter boots. Obviously you cannot front point but for general winter hill walks they save buying 3 season boots.

    Bought these to upgrade from some walking chains which I’d had for many years and I am not disappointed. The spikes give very reassuring grip on compacted snow or ice. Easy to fit, wear and remove when you’re finished with them but take time to make sure you get a correct fit as I found the size guide a little misleading. They don’t replace crampons but, if you need a bit of reassurance when walking in wintry conditions at lower levels, these are a sensible addition to your daysack at a price that won’t break the bank. Brilliant service from the Ambleside store too...

    Bought these as an upgrade from some chains I had and these have given an amazing amount of extra grip on compacted snow or ice. Very easy to both fit and remove. Take time to get the correct size though. They don’t replace crampons but are certainly a useful addition to your daysack when walking in winter conditions at lower levels. Brilliant service from the Ambleside store too.

    Great little product. Very light and compact. Reasonably priced. Very easy to use. Works well on compacted snow and ice.Would recommend but note they do not replace crampons but provide an alternative in less intensive conditions. Very happy with my purchase. First time using this site and would use again. Very quick delivery

    I use these spikes on a sloping field where I keep my 3 little rescue ponies. They eat the grass down to mud so when its wet it turns into a ski slope. With the spikes on my wellies I can finally stay upright when Im pushing a wheelbarrow around picking up their poo!
