A waist pack sits lower and tighter than a vest, making it the preferred choice for runners who want minimal bounce and quick access to nutrition and soft flasks without anything on their back. For shorter trail runs and fell races where you only need water and a gel or two, a simple hydration belt is hard to beat.

For longer days where you need a phone, a layer and more nutrition, a larger waist pack with additional pockets gives you the capacity without the weight of a full vest or pack.
