Petzl have challenged the Ice Tool norm and re-engineered their 3 most popular tools (Quark, Nomic and Ergo – now the Ergonomic) to create tools that excel at their specific target uses. The Ergonomic still remains as the best high-end tool for demanding ice climbing routes and dry tooling.
So, what's new? The Ergonomic now features an all-new grip design with ergonomics for maximising hanging time, a hydroformed shaft for better high grip, new nylon head insert (head-shaft connection is 50% stronger), the head is cross compatible with the Nomic and Quark for all Petzl picks and accessories, and the lower finger rest is cross compatible with the Nomic. The Ergonomic is entirely modular and can be configured for the requirements at hand.
Whether at home on rock or ice, the Ergonomic comes equipped with a redesigned DRY pick, which with its more aggressive teeth, optimises inverted positions and the weights facilitate slotting of the pick in cracks. The Ergonomic also features a minimalist hammer, the head is protected and allows the user to hammer a piton back in.
If you want the best tool for climbing, what we like to say, pretty hard as nails routes, then the all new Ergonomic is likely to be for you.
