We're not going to say that DMM Peenuts will sit in all those places where you can't get regular wires to fit, but they might. Or maybe that dodgy micro wire placement, will actually be a decent wire placement with a DMM Peenut in it.
The main benefit of the DMM Peenuts, is that they are different. This isn't always a good thing. Sometimes sticking to the status quo is useful, but wouldn't it be worth having a set of these hanging from your rack, just in case the status quo doesn't come up trumps?
The old HB Alloy offsets, and the smaller brass partners were very popular, because they weren't shaped like regular wires. They were something totally crazy. But they worked! And a lot of people are beginning to discover the joys of these micro wires, because they also "just work".
Part of the nature of small gear, is that it isn't incredibly strong. There's just not enough material. The size 1 DMM Peenut, is rated at 4kN. That's probably enough to take a bit of a fall, but not a lot more. Sizes 2 and 3 are better at 5kN, and by the time you get to 4 and 5 you're looking at 8kN. Sense must therefore prevail. If you can place a couple of tiny wires, then do. It will be better for you, than trusting a single piece. If you can use screamer tapes, then do that too. Just a couple of ideas for keeping you off the floor.
