DMM Belay Master Screwgate - Titanium/Lime

Closing the clip on the Belay Master ensures the carabiner is safe for use. It can only be closed when the gate is screwed shut.

When closed, the clip keeps the carabiner in its strongest orientation, prevents devices and knots from moving onto the spine, and eliminates possible cross-loading due to rotation. This feature makes the Belay Master the perfect belay carabiner for those new to belaying.

  • Belay carabiner for consistent rope control and compatibility with belay devices

Belay carabiners give smooth and confident belaying with tube and assisted breaking belay devices. They have full section top bars for consistent rope control and reduced rope wear. Their shape resists flipping into sub-optimal orientations when belaying, acting to ensure the carabiner loads along its strongest axis.

  • Offset D carabiner for optimal loading and ergonomics

D-Shaped carabiners encourage loading in their strongest orientation by forcing loads toward the carabiner spine. An Offset D refines this basic design by extending the top bar, increasing internal volume. This improves handling and compatibility with thick ropes and slings.

  • Nylon clip ensures carabiner loads correctly

The Belay Master's nylon clip prevents accidental opening of the locking mechanism, and ensures the carabiner loads in its strongest orientation. This makes an ideal belay carabiner for new climbers.

  • Full section top bar for consistent rope handling and increased longevity

A rope running over a full section top bar has more consistent handling characteristics than one running over an I-Beam surface. Our belay carabiners feature full section top bars for greater control rope control. Ropes loading over full section bar also bend less than those loaded over I-Beam surfaces, increasing rope longevity.

  • Keylock nose eliminates snagging

This carabiner's nose slots into a groove in the gate, allowing it to achieve full strength without a gate notch. This creates a clean internal profile that won't catch on gear, bolts or slings, giving easier clipping and removal from systems.

  • I-Beam construction for optimum strength to weight ratio
I-Beam construction techniques allow carabiners to be lighter without compromising strength. This is achieved through hot forging, a process which allows metal to be made into complex shapes that improve functionality.

Buyers Guide - How to choose a carabiner

Krabs, Clips, Biners, Connectors …… there are so many names AND there are so many styles – just look at the climbing gear walls in our shops and you’ll see rows and rows of gorgeous shiny karabiners all vying for your climbing pleasure.

An essential piece of kit for all climbers and mountaineers, the humble carabiner has come a long way since the heavy steel oval links used by Joe Brown and his peers with different styles, shapes and strengths for the different roles they perform within a climber’s system. Once you understand the differences, you’ll need to think about the type of climbing you do before choosing which one is right for you. Still not sure? We always have experienced climbers on our staff team who will be more than happy to show you our krabs and discuss how you can add to your collection……

What are the parts of a carabiner?
- What design features should I look out for?
- Why are there so many different types of carabiners for climbing?
- Lighter is better – right?
- Is the colour of my carabiner important?
- How do I check and maintain my carabiners?
- Can I recycle my carabiners?

Top tips to make the right choice:

If you are planning to use your carabiners in winter conditions or at high altitudes – try them with your gloves.

Check out the ergonomics of a carabiner – how does it fit in your hand? Can you operate it one-handed? Multiple times?

If you run out of screwgates, sometimes you can use two normal krabs with the gates opposed instead.

Your carabiners should be stored out of direct sunlight or heat, in a well-ventilated space. Don’t store your carabiners in the boot of your car.

Technical Information
  • I-Beam technology minimises the weight yet is even stronger than the original.
  • Plastic clip holds the screwgate to stop accidental 'unscrewing' as well as holding the two attachements in the correct positions.
  • Due to the clip, cross loading cannot occur.
  • Safer design: if the screwgate is not closed, the clip will not secure, therefore offering a clear and obvious safety check.
  • Weight: 93g
  • Specifications:
    • Gate Closed: 27kn
    • Minor Axis: 10kn
    • Gate Open: 8kn
