Rab Neutrino 400 Down Sleeping Bag in Ink

Season:AW09

Brand:RAB

Code:oldcode2

Intended for situations where warmth-to-weight is a primary concern, the Neutrino 400 is well suited to summer alpine trips and long multiday treks.

The Neutrino range comprises lightweight, minimalist down-filled sleeping bags. Refined to maximum warmth without increasing weight, the updated design has chevron shaped baffles to ensure the down is held over the centre of the body and prevents down migration while the trapezoidal chambers eliminate cold spots.

Perfect for summer alpine climbing, the Neutrino 400 is hand filled in Derbyshire and contains the highest quality 800FP ethically sourced European Goose Down. It is made using the lightweight, yet durable Pertex® Quantum - this allows the bag to have an impressively small pack size but quickly loft for instant warmth. The ‘mummy taper’ shape and angled footbox keep overall weight low without compromising on warmth or comfort and still allow for movement.

The Neutrino 400 has an ergonomically designed, close-fitting internal collar with a hood drawcord, as well as a 3/4 length YKK anti-snag zip with an insulating draft tube to keep out the cold. Other features include a handy internal stash pocket, dry bag compression stuff sack for transport and cotton sack for storage.

Buyers Guide - How to choose a sleeping bag

A good night’s sleep is key to enjoying your time in the hills and vital for physical and mental recovery. Keeping toasty while you sleep is important because your body will naturally drop in temperature during deep rest. There are a multitude of sleeping bags available out there covering a vast price range but if you choose wisely, maintain your bag and store it correctly it could very well keep you snoozing happily for 20+ years.

Choosing the right sleeping bag for you involves asking some key questions included below. To help you understand why they are important simply click through to our full buyers guide to read about the incredible technologies, science, testing and the design involved in getting you a good nights sleep....

- Synthetic or down?

- Men’s or women’s?
- What is a "season" and why do the prices vary so much?
- How do I make sense of comfort ratings?
- Why should a bag “fit” me?
- So do I get what I pay for?
- I brought a “warm” bag but I’m still cold at night.
- What about the environment?

Top tips to make the right choice:

If you can visit the shop to look at them in person this is ideal as not only does it allow you to place bags side by side to instantly see the difference in cut and loft but it also gives you the opportunity to try the bags on. Just like clothing, they are all cut differently and often come in length options so that you can get exactly the right fit for you. These days, however, travelling long distances and meeting face to face may not be quite so straightforward so we are more than happy to talk with you over the phone to discuss which sleeping bag may work best for you. We are all active users of the equipment we sell and we have all had our fair share of miserable nights, that’s why we are all happy to share our knowledge - so that you don’t have to!

Great product delivered very quickly and at a good price. Bought 2 weeks ago so only used once so far and in relatively mild conditions. Packs small, feels light, lofts quickly and is warm, soft and cosy. Come with useful waterproof compression sack.
