The Mountain Equipment Orion Men's Jacket is a highly protective, lightweight waterproof shell built for demanding climbing, mountaineering and ski touring in serious mountain conditions. Combining Mountain Equipment's pinnacle DRILITE® XT waterproof membrane with an exceptionally durable construction, the Orion is designed for big objectives where reliable weather protection, breathability and unrestricted movement are essential.
The three-layer DRILITE® XT fabric uses a nanoporous membrane with around 10 billion pores per square inch. This construction delivers a hydrostatic head of more than 20,000mm while maintaining the high breathability needed during hard physical activity. The jacket combines a flexible 70D fabric through the main body with tougher 160D reinforcement panels in high-wear areas, providing an excellent balance of mobility and durability.
Mountain Equipment's highest standards of Storm construction have been applied throughout the Orion, including laser cutting, bonding and carefully optimised stitching. The result is a clean, durable construction designed to minimise potential water ingress while maintaining freedom of movement.
The Super Alpine HC Hood is fully adjustable and designed to fit comfortably over a climbing helmet, providing dependable protection from heavy rain, snow and strong winds without restricting your vision. An articulated Alpine fit and pre-shaped sleeves allow natural movement while climbing, while the two-way YKK® AquaGuard® centre zip offers reliable weather protection and useful ventilation.
Two large laminated chest pockets provide accessible storage while wearing a harness, with two-way underarm pit zips allowing rapid ventilation during high-output activity. At just 500g, the Orion Men's Jacket offers serious mountain protection without excessive weight, making it an ideal shell for alpine climbing, ice and mixed climbing and demanding ski tours.
