The Climbers Shop began trading in Ambleside in 1959, and the first Joe Brown's shop opened in Llanberis in 1966. Together they represent over 90 years of outdoor retail heritage.

  • Our Joe Brown shops are named after Joe Brown (1930–2020), one of the most influential British rock climbers and mountaineers of the 20th century. A close friend of Climbers Shop founder Frank Davies, Joe opened the first Joe Brown's shop in Llanberis in 1966. We're a specialist climbing and outdoor equipment retailer - not to be confused with other businesses sharing the Joe Brown name.
