The Mountain Equipment Switch Pro Hooded Men's Jacket is a highly breathable active-insulation layer designed for fast-moving alpine climbing and ski mountaineering. Built to regulate temperature during changing mountain conditions, it combines lightweight insulation, wind resistance and stretch for a versatile layer that can be worn on its own or underneath a waterproof shell.
At the heart of the Switch Pro is Octayarn Warp-knit, an innovative insulation fabric made from hollow, multi-lobed fibres. Its three-dimensional structure traps warm air while allowing moisture to move rapidly away from the body, providing warmth without the bulk of conventional fleece. The result is an active midlayer that works particularly well during high-output climbs and steep ski tours.
A lightweight 20D RS Nylon outer provides wind resistance, mechanical stretch and a PFAS-free DWR finish to help shed light rain and snow. Under the arms, across the side panels and through the top of the hood, Pontetorto Tecnostretch fleece increases breathability and freedom of movement while helping prevent overheating.
The Switch Pro uses an active fit with flatlocked seams and low-bulk cuffs, making it easy to layer beneath a shell without restricting movement. The grown-on hood adds warmth when temperatures drop, while two high-set zipped hand pockets remain accessible when wearing a harness or rucksack waistbelt.
When you need to pack it away, the jacket stuffs into its own hand pocket and features twin karabiner carry loops, making it easy to clip to a harness or pack. At just 340g, the Switch Pro is an excellent choice for fast and light missions, cold-weather ski touring and multi-day alpine objectives.
