The Climbers Shop staff product testing in Scotland

return to current news articles

This month, Nick and Keith from The Climbers Shop boot room went on a 3-day winter skills and gear testing weekend in Scotland courtesy of Mountain Equipment and Gore-Tex, staying at Altshellach near Fort William and run by Plas-y-Brenin.

The Accommodation, food and staff were all fantastic.

We spent the first two days practising crampon work, ice axe braking and navigation on Annoch Mor in glorious weather and just enough snow.

The final day we finished the course by climbing Number 4 gully on Ben Nevis, a great way to do the ‘Ben’ for the first time.

It was great to get to use the product we sell for 3 hill days; we tested salopettes, jackets and gloves all by Mountain equipment and all spot on.

A final thank you to all the Mountain Equipment Staff and Plas-Y-Brenin Instructors.

A good time was had by all.
