Slings & Daisychains - DMM 16mm Nylon Slings

The 60cm sling is the workhorse of any lead climber and is useful in countless scenarios.  This DMM 16cm Nylon Sling strikes a good balance between weight, durability and strength, and at a very attractive price too.  This makes it great for climbers on a budget, but good old nylon is still a big favourite with instructors, as the chunkier width inspires greater confidence in novices than skinny dyneema slings.

Nylon slings have similar static strength to thinner Dyneema slings, however they provide a higher safety margin as there is physically more material.  Nylon can also be knotted safely (any knot in a dyneema sling will seriously weaken it and should be avoided at all costs) and performs better if shock loaded due to an inherent stretch in the webbing.
