Well the weather has definitely broken now hasn't it? We had a nice stint of sunshine and high temperatures (I even got sun burnt!) but it seems to have reverted to more normal Cumbrian weather with regular showers and a definite chill in the air.
The forecast for the weekend ahead is as follows;
Both Saturday and Sunday are currently looking very similar; although there will be spells of sunshine, there will regular and persistent cloud cover which will lead to showers throughout the weekend. On the higher peaks, these showers could fall as hail and posssibly even snow!
As the temperatures are not set to drop as low as freezing, any hail or snow that falls will obviously not last, but the brisk north easterly wind will lead to a significant chill factor for this time of year - feeling close to 0C at times. If you're heading out to the higher summits then you'd be advised to take waterproof clothing and spare layers.
Of the two days, Sunday is currently looking like the better day to get out and about.
