We’re MADD for Montane

P18-05-10_11.02 Thanks to Montane, four of our staff (me included) got the opportunity to put their kit into action as we were taken on a MADD activity day (Montane Activity Day …… not sure what the 2nd D stands for!) in Grizedale forest and the Langdale valley.

The morning started with a meet up at the Grizedale visitors centre to get some mountain bikes and head to the North Face Trail, a purpose built single track trail around the Forestry Commissions land. No more than 10 minutes after they dished the bikes out, when Helen managed to break hers! Back to the bike hire place for a replacement followed by a trip over her handlebars! (a bit of attention seeking methinks!!!) Anyhow, we got going and had a good blast round some of the NF trail and some of the forestry tracks. A good way to work up an appetite at test out the Montane baselayers.

P18-05-10_14.22 The afternoon saw us in the Langdale valley heading up Dungeon Ghyll, which despite the often trips to the Pub namesakes, was the first visit for most of the group. Not to spoil a secluded spot, but if you get the chance, head up there, it’s a cracking spot! this time, the terra pants were coming into their own, especially given the sudden warm temperatures, so the vents were well and truly used and appreciated. it was then round to Stickle tarn and a trot down the track for a pint in the Stickle Barn – Thanks Montane.

…and thanks to Stuart from Adventure In Mind for being our instructor/entertainer throughout the day!
