The ever popular Kendal Mountain Festival (they've dropped the Film bit from the name apparently) is fast approaching and the programme has now been announced. The line up has been out for a while but you can now plan your weekend properly as the dates and times are officially out.
This year we will be rivetted, enthralled and entertained by such mountain supremo's as Chris Sharma, Ueli Steck, Thomas Hornbien, and Stefan Glowacz as well as a whole host of other interesting characters such as the man dubbed 'The Spiderman', Alain Robert.
Friday features the film premier of the new Alastair Lee film 'The Asgard Project' which sees Leo Houlding big wall climbing and base jumping on Baffin, as well as talks from Simon Yates (you know, the one from Touching the Void), Cameron McNeish (preview of forthcoming BBC programme) and Andy Kirkpatrick (always entertaining).
Saturdays highlight has got to be a talk from Chris Sharma, possibly the best climber in the world (discuss!) who comes to Kendal for the first time and will sell out very quickly. Also showing on Saturday is Stephan Siegrist discussing some of the epic summits that he has experienced and the crazy French urban solo climber Alain Robert (you'll probably have seen footage of him being arrested at some point!).
Finally Sunday ends with Ueli Steck discussing his recent speed climbs on the great North Faces of the Alps, as well as Stefan Glowacz who is treating us to a one off presentation on his varied adventures across the globe.
There are obviously tonnes of other guests and films and talks going on, including whole Wild Water, Bike, Snowsports and Free Flight programmes, a film competition and evening parties.
