The weather in the Lakes is looking decidely Autumnal for the next few days, with spells of rain on Saturday and potentially gale force winds on Monday. Don't let that put you off from getting out as there will be brighter and drier weather too, particularly on Sunday which looks like being a lovely day.
On Saturday a weakening cold front will push through, bringing a band of patchy and drizzly rain from the west. This will mean that showers can be expected throughout the day, mainly in the west, and low cloud will cover most of the fell tops. This will break up in the later part of the day, making way for better conditions overnight and into Sunday.
Temperatures won't be too bad. They'll be hovering in the upper teens in the valleys and maybe dipping into single figures up on the tops. Temperatures will drop slightly on Sunday.
Winds will be generally moderate, but strong gusts maybe experienced in the mountains at times, so be aware if you are traversing a narrow ridge. The winds will be increasingly quite significantly into Monday across Cumbria, and gale force conditions will be seen on the fells. This will be accompanied by more rain, which will be heavy and persistent at times.
As our weekend weather forecasts are proving so popular we're going to bring you a new Live Weather Webcam as we get into the Winter. It'll mean climbers and walkers will be able to see exactly what the conditions are like in the Lakes at any time. We'll keep you posted as to when this is going live.
