The weather for this weekend (15th -16th August) is looking decidely autumnal. It will be a pretty windy affair, with a fair amount of rain too. The Fell tops will see gale force winds at times making any walking difficult and on potentially dangerous on exposed ridges. Gusts of 50-60mph can be expected at times, particularly strong on Saturday morning.
Visibility is practically zero above about 400m, so theres no point going out in the hills to see the view. Of course this make navigation a little challenging too.
There is slightly better conditions coming in late on Sunday, with sunny spells in the afternoon, but the winds will still be pretty fierce up high.
Temperature will be hovering around the high teens in the valleys, with single figure temperatures (typically about 9C) on the fell tops.
We were hoping for better weather today, as two of us from the shop will be running with Eddie Izzard as he passes through Ambleside as part of his mammoth 1000 mile run in aid of Sports Relief. We'll post all the details later today.
