The Mammut Monolith GTX is a lightweight alpine boot, suited to alpine trekking and summer mountaineering.  The Monolith GTX also makes a great Via ferrata boot.

The Monolith GTX is a light, crampon-compatible alpine and trekking boot that offers an advanced level of comfort. Constructed with abrasion-resistant velour leather and Dropstop textile, the Monolith GTX is both flexible and benefits from strong lateral support thanks to the Mammut® Motion Control technology. The cushioning Hybrid Shell provides support exactly where it’s needed. The patented Mammut® Base Fit technology uses free-sliding bands to transfer the force of the lacing to the sole. The asymmetric lacing adapts to the anatomy of the foot and boosts the pressure on the big toe for precision footwork. Rounding out this full-featured boot are a waterproof GORE-TEX® Performance Comfort Footwear membrane, a high-grip vibram® Teton sole and a fully adjustable 3-zone lacing system.

Purchased the Mammut Monoliths only two weeks ago and their maiden voyage was up helvellyn and striding edge, a good start for any boot. I was not let down!!! Comfortable over all terrain and very sure footed on the edge and scrambles themselves. Last weekend they ventured up the North face of Tryfan in North Wales. A much tougher task - yet the boots were more than up for it. I would highly recommend these boots for any purpose and although they are at the top end of most peoples budget, worth every single penny! Next week they head to Ben Nevis and the CMD Arete!!!
