I have now used the Montane Resolute Smock in Scotland in winter. In February 2012 I walked for seven and half days from Blair Athol to Aviemore, taking in some big hills on the way. Its in winter when this piece of kit excels. Warm and cozy. Scotland is damp and in winter very damp. The smock is reasonably warm when it is wet. It dries quickly and is good for fast movement in damp conditions. I use it as part of a three layer system, base layer, thermal layer (which includes the Resolute) and shell. I find this gives the most flexibility. It is too warm for autumn or spring, so I use an old montane extreme smock. I have many years of use to come.

Excellent jacket: warm and robust - but only for cold or very cold weather. Ive used it for a weeks ski touring in Feb and it was great, but its too hot for April - or for most winter mountain biking - I stick with my buffalo for that.

Awesome! best purchase Ive made in a long time, fantastically warm and comfortable - no problems on the recent snowy walk to work in icy -10 degrees gales.

Wore it with a finisterre merino wool baselayer for some sledding fun up on Dartmoor during the recent cold spell (Dec 10). Had to stop as was getting too hot, despite the -10 windchill.
Didnt even have to wear gloves, thats how warm it is!
The hood is worth its weight in gold when the wind gets up as it still offers good all round vision.

Excellent Jacket, -6 degrees centrigade in Epping Forest for the Rodings Rally, tough enough to go through all the vegetation and keep me warm all night.

One amazing jacket, Used it in Scotland for a week in October we had hail, And rain never let me down, even tho not waterproof it held up just fine to a good soaking, And drys really fast. As soon as i unpacked it i knew it was tough. Perfect for the British conditions.
