The Mammut Base Jump pants have long been one of the best selling soft shell pants around.  Mammut have now tweaked the design further to produce the Base Jump Advanced pants.  Designed for mountaineering and classic alpinism, the Base Jumps are virtually wind proof and highly weather resistant.  They won't restrict movement due to their inherent 4 way stretch and are also very breathbale, keeping you dry and comfortable whilst being active in the mountains.  They have a multiude of applications and will happily cope with ski touring, rock climbing, Via ferrata or alpine trekking. They make superb autumn/winter/spring UK hill walking pants too.

Have worn the pants 3 times since purchase. all 3 have been lake walks. 2 in the current Spring "heatwave" aroud Easdale Tarn and Helm Crag. The pants are very comfortable and kept my legs cool for the whole walks. The other walk was in the damp clouds at Haweswater. The rain was horizontal at times but the pants kept me dry for the whole 5 hours! Very impressed. Not the cheapest pants you can buy but the saying "you get what you pay for" is very relevant to the quality of these.
