Garmont Pinnacle GTX

the best and most comfortable fitting winter boot by far which only needed 30mins of sitting on the sofa at home to break in before a winter trip. I would definetly buy the same boot again and advise anyone who finds other makes of boot to be too loose around the heel to do the same.

First of all Mick at the climbing shop was good enough to spend 10-15 mins chatting on the phone to know my exact requirements in the boot i needed. He did not dissappoint! Having ordered before 1pm my Garmonts arrived the next morning very swiftly. I wore them around the house and garden to break them in as much as poss before my trip to the Swiss Alps 2 days later. They probably do not need officially breaking in but i have extra wide feet and they are made of leather so a couple of days acquainting them with your feet will be time well spent. In the Swiss Alps theynproved tonbe outstanding. Warm,dry, comfortable enough for long approaches yet stiff enough to climb and plod along on snow routes with crampons. Grivel C2 crampons take exceptionally well on these boots and never came off or even got loose despite climbing and negiotiating rock sections with them on. They were even good enough to climb pitched routes at 5a-5c level when i was too Lazy to change into stickies! Overall a very good boot and would reccomend to everybody looking for a robust yet versatile alpine boot. The leather is very stiff on them so if your a weekend warrior who rarely walks in full leather boots at other times then these will need a little time to break in but if your used to stiff upper leather then these will be fine from the off. A fantastic boot from a fantastic shop who employ people who clearly know what they are talking about and arent afraid to share it. 5*****

excellent winter boot. fits C2 crampons well and good under foot. excellent value at 150 GBP
