Customer Product Reviews

I bought a pair of these last year after falling over once too often on icy pavements. They are SUPERB. They are easy to fit, work brilliantly, and are light to carry. One minor moan - I wish the black version was available in the UK, the red ones are a bit ooh look at me! on my way to work...

These are the best. I tried out various alternatives last winter and they all had problems - either breaking or coming off in deep snow. These go on easily and come off easily when you want them to. you get secure footing on any kind of ice or snow. They seem to take any kind of punishment. Ive worn them for a whole days hill walking acrossicy and rocky terrain and they show no sign of damage - still good for next season. After a while they can slip round your foot a little but its easy to readjust them. Not cheap but you pay less in the end.

Kahtoola Microspikes are excellent. We were able to walk daily on snow and ice whether it was on moors or pavements. They fitted on our hiking boots and we felt safe walking in all conditions without poles. A definate "best buy" of the year.

Hi Guys, Many thanks for sorting my order out the product is spot on. The product is well engineered better that other products I have seen on the market.Look forward to a bit more snow so I can use them a bit more. Should market these in areas where people need just to get out of the house as it would give them the confidence to do so. Keep up the good work Top score for me that is 5 Cheers John

Unfortunately, there has not been an opportunity to use mu "spikes" yet, but I have seen them in use. I was struggling to stay vertical whilst this guy was coming towards me as if he was on a summer stroll. Bring on the ice age!!! And I have to add that the prompt delivery could not have been better. Ordered on Sunday, recieved on Tuesday. Eleven out of ten.

Unfortunately, I only got these after the very cold & icy spell. However they are very easy to put on & fit both boots & approach shoes. They are worth keeping in your sack when on the hills in winter. They could prove life saving! On the minus side, I think a little storage bag should have been provided.

Have only recently purchased so cant comment on durability, but after a couple of outings on the lakeland fells I can confirm that these are the dogs wotsits when it comes to running on snow & ice. Hardly noticed I had them on. Able to maintain good speed on descents and run confidently over mixed ground. Brilliant.

Bought them from climbers shop for use in Austria Jan 10, best buy for a long time. Easy to pack, wear and store. Made from good materials and very robust for their weight. Used extensively hiking in Europe and now Wales, great buy.

A friend and I pbought these for a trip to Fort William at the start of February. We were both impressed by the ease of use and the performance. They clearly will never replace a full 12 point crampon however due to the ease of use you are more inclined to put them on earlier than full crampons. An additional bonus is that you do not run anything like the risk of slicing your goretex gaiters of impaling your leg! They do ball up but no more than crampons and this is quickly and cheaply solved by drawing round your boot on a plastic bag, cutting it out and holding it under the sole when putting them on. A really good product which is far more than a "back-up".

I purchased two sets of Microspikes for myself and partner before Christmas. First use was on New Years day on snow and large hard ice covered areas on Penyghent. They have since been used during the last six weeks on: frozen Huddesrfield roads when all around were on hands & knees the Microspikes allowed normal walking and created a lot of interest, on very icy Striding and Swirral edges with all other walkers with crampons, the spikes opearated on all surfaces including the odd exposed rock section. We find them so simple to put on and off, they provide excellent traction and unless you want to climb on steep ice are superb for winter walking including inclined ice slopes. Friends showed so much intrest I ordered another nine sets on their behalf. These Microspikes are a true 4x4 equivelent for feet. Would reccomend them without hesitation.

These spikes are brilliant. I did a 5k run on a ice/packed snow trail and felt confident that I wouldnt fall over. The fact that other runners were sliping and sliding and falling over says it all. Easy to get on and fairly light.

For some time Ive been unhappy using my full on climbing crampons for hill walking. The spikes are simply too big, and do tend to throw me off blance on mixed terrain. Also they drag a lot, and the front points have tripped me up before now, usually by getting caught in either my other boot or my trousers. I was seriously considering grinding the spikes down to a lower profile as I no longer climb ice . I saw these being worn on the Fairfield Horseshoe and thought that they looked just what I wanted. In effect they are a big strong elastic band with small spikes on. Absolutely brilliant for winter fell walking. All the benefits of crampons with none of the drawbacks. In addition they pack down nice and small and are very easy to carry. They are easier to put on/remove than my crampons, so they can be taken on and off if the terrain alters. The only drawback Ive found is that they can work round my boot if Im walking through mixed terrain and stepping into narrow gaps between firm rocks. But...crampons would probably throw me off balance here so Ill happily accept that feature!!! Highly recommended.

Used on a cold wintery day on Bleaklow and again on a search with Glossop MRT, on Kinder. A superb bit of kit for when its to dangerous or slippy to wander on mixed ice, snow, frozen moors, but not bad enough for full trekking crampons.

Very easy and quick to put on and take off; good fit on walking boots; light and easy to carry; good on all sorts of slippery surfaces short of exposed/steep snow and ice.

Amazing product. They absolutely transform walking on packed snow or sheet ice, are easy to slip on and off and can be carried in the pocket. Instead of teetering about using a "Poirot"-like gait one strides confidently into the distance without the need to reduce ones pace. Only when encountering clearer sections of pavement, for example, do you need to slacken speed.

Following a knee injury in June 2009,my physiotherapist suggested I get crampons this winter if we had snow. She was absolutely right, they have been fantastic and given me lots of confidence, walking in the snow. Have worn them with various footwear and have recommended them to people who have made comments what do you have on your boots. If we experience winters such as these I think crampons will be a must

I have found nothing else that compares to micro spikes for walking or running. The best bit of kit Ive bought this winter.

Excellent traction on slippery hard ice and snow. Some improvement in soft snow. Lightweight and feels like walking normally. Whilst not a substitute for crampons they are very useful for winter hillwalks where a little extra traction is required. Sometimes need readjustment after an hour or so of walking, but with practice it becomes easier to get the right fit first time.

My wife "stole" my Magic Spikers so I bought these as a replacement. Wow - brilliant for walking on snow & ice, easy to put on and can be carried in a pocket to slip on only when needed. Suitable for all kinds of footwear. Definitely one of my better buys!

Brilliant product :) Ive been using them for trail running in the snow, where they have worked really well, and Ive been able to ascend & descend at speed - confident that I wont slip. I can see they would work equally well just for walking around on slippy pavements.

Easy to put on and very effective. I have used then continuously in the Jan 2010 snow and ice. Although definitely not for mountain use they are worth packing for non technical outings in icy weather. I also guess they will help on slippery grass and the hard mud you get in Africa, so could be an all year item. They are easy to walk in with shoes and non-crampon boots. These have heel and toe spi

I bought a pair of these for my partner, who was very nervous on anything remotely slippy or icy. To say theyve transformed her experience would be an understatement - shes now very confident and solid on her feet, and has had no problems on hard-packed snow and ice. Very versatile, being suitable to a wide range of footwear, from approach shoes to walking boots. Thoroughly recommended for wal
