The Montane North Star Jacket uses 93% of exceptionally high quality wild Ukrainian goose down in an 800+ fill power.  Designed for extreme winter conditions, it also features a water-resistant shell fabric, an adjustable hood with wired peak and an innovative system of mini baffles that ensure evenly distributed warmth.  It gives you the perfect combination of minimal weight and maximum warmth, and can be easily stored in the supplied waterproof compression bag when not in use.

The North Star is ideal for delivering incredible warmth in extreme cold conditions and must be the first choice for mountaineers and polar explorers who require a jacket for belaying, wearing around high altitude camps or as an emergency insulation jacket on long winter days in the mountains.

I only got this at the tail end of the cold spell as a replacement for my broken coat and have only worn it a few times. However it seems well made - people all over the net complain about the zip. I cant say Ive had any issue with it, its just a case of making sure the male end is pushed all the way into the zipper before trying to pull it closed. The warmth to weight ratio, in my limited experience, is excellent. I was in a light weight shirt and the jacket and kept me nice and snug. So on limited usage, Im extremely happy! Im only giving 4 stars as I have not used it sufficiently to definitively review.

Great jacket, light, and very warm, great hood, only minus is the zip, doesnt feel very robust so treat withcare

Excellent "warmth/weight-ratio". Fits under the shell, with its rather slim design. Perfect tight fit around your neck. I love this jacket
