Firstly, the Climbers Shop was efficient, as always, in processing the order and getting the pegs to me quickly.
As for the pegs themselves, they are expensive and heavy (50g each), but I had just bought an Atko and I think Hilleberg knows whats best for winter conditions. The Atko only really needs 4 pegs.
I used them for the first time in the Estos valley, near Benasque, Pyrenees on a winter trek. The snow was 50cm, very powdery under a hard frost crust. It would not have been possible to pitch the tent properly without the pegs, unless I were able to use stones, trees, snow bags, etc. The pegs worked exceptionally well, freezing into the trampled snow. There was, however, no wind to really test the guying, but I am confident that, especially once frozen in, they would deal with a gale.
Overall, there may be other good pegs, and cheaper ones, but I was very pleased with the Hilleberg pegs: they worked well and are robust enough to be hammered into frozen ground.
(4* only because weight and high cost)
