The Easy Rider Via Ferrata set is based on BD's Energy Absorption System (ESA) - a stiched through folded sling tape, the stitching of which tears through when shock loaded, thus deploying the sling to slow a fall and reduce the shock loading to the climber. This system has the advantage of being very compact and lightweight, with no moving parts to go wrong. However, one disadvantage of this system over other Via Ferrata systems is that once deployed it cannot be reset.
The EAS is stored in a zipped pouch, which stops dirt and debris from potentially damaging the sling, and keeps the whole system tidy and neat.
The Easy Rider carabiners have a patent-pending internal locking mechanism and squeeze actuation, which provides excellent ease-of-use, eliminates hand pinch potential and greatly increases the ergonomic function of the carabiner. The 'Cows tail' leashes are elasticated internally to reduce tangling and to keep the leashes short and manageable. The leashes are individually sewn into the EAS.
