Using lots of 'sticky' rubber to keep maximum friction between your feet and the rock (or indoor wall) Rock shoes are essential for any climber wanting to tackle the steep stuff. Rock Shoes are designed for either novice, intermediate or advanced climbers, with their shape and design becoming more specialised, asymetric and aggressive the more advanced they are.
Climbing shoes are designed to be worn close fitting and tight, and usually without socks, as this gives you much better precision, power and 'feel'. They should feel snug but never be painfully tight.
