Despite the overly complicated name, the Salomon XA Pro is simply a good lightweight off road running shoe and has earned itself a wide following from runners, lightweight backpackers and just outdoor generalists whoc want a comfortable shoe to wear day in and day out. The Contragrip outsole provides trustworthy grip on loose and wet surfaces, whilst the Goretex® liner keeps the mud and water out making this a year round trail shoe.

A lovey lightweight and comfortable trainer which can be worn all day without problems, I had mine for a year now. I love the lacing system, its quick and simple to use, light weight and provides a nice even tension. My only criticism is the grip is lacking in anything other than dry conditions, its particularly poor on wet grass when compared to TNF Hedgehog GTX.

Having had 3 pairs of the XA Pro 3D ultras the last few years I decided to go for the xcr version. They have been a great shoe yet again but personally I think I will stick to the non xcr version in future. Both have great grip and fit like a glove, just not sure the xcr is needed as they hold any water that gets in them when running through puddles etc.
