With the invention of the 3D-Bionicsphere System and SweatTraps, X-Bionic have almost eradicated the feeling of sweatiness and clamminess without creating a garment that just wicks all moisture and warmth away from you leaving you chilled. Traditional garments have wicked moisture away so quickly that the body just replaces it with more moisture and enters into a situation whereby you lose too much liquid and salts through sweating.
Recognising the fact that your body sweats in varying degrees across your body, they have zoned the top accordingly to make for the most comfortable and most practical winter weight base layer that you could hope for.
- 3D-BionicSphere System
This system helps regulate temperature and controls moisture evaporation. It doesn't wick sweat away completely as other technical base layer do. It allows residual moisture to remain to allow the body to cool naturally. A system of air channels and ridges allowing air to circulate and keeping moisture and temperature levels optimized. The fabric used for the construction of the boxers has a NODOR® treatment which prevents the build up of odours, without killing freindly microbes essential for skin health.
- SweatTraps
Your skin does not detect moisture vapour, only water droplets against the skin. The SweatTraps absorb this wetness before it is felt, drawing it away before it can be felt, and then releasing it through thermal dynamics. A thin film of sweat is then left against the skin which does what sweat is supposed to do, cools the surface.
The ribbed appearance of the fabric (visible in the zoom images) form Air Channels which fill with cool air, quickly become saturated with moisture from the garment and are then replaced with fresh dry air, thus expelling any excess moisture from the top. This circulation of moisture continues for as long as the body continues to sweat.
