After a few weeks of using the DMM Brenin harnesses after joining my Universities Mountaineering Society, I decided to bite the bullet and buy a new harness.
Once my requirements were explained in the shop, I was suggested to try this DMM Renegade 2, and a 1.5 years down the line, many multipitches, alpine ascents, ghyll scrambles later, I could not recommend it highly enough.
Firstly, and in my opinion, most importantly, it is durable. Through water, scrapes, snow and ice, it has performed admirably, and shows no signs of wear and tear.
Secondly, its highly functional, from the many gear loops, sensibly placed, allowing for those gear nuts (such as myself) to fill our harness methodically with plenty of gear. Its also massively adjustable, so I can wear it over a T Shirt on a hot day, as well as over many layers on a Scottish Winter outing.
Lastly, its incredibly comfortable. Ive spent nearly an hour suspended in this harness, and whilst not entirely comfortable, it was certainly not painful to do so - it definitely beats the Brenin comfort by an absolute mile.
Overall I think youd be hard pressed to find a harness as versatile as this for its price. A must for any climbers wishing for a diverse climbing career.
