Locking Carabiners - Black Diamond Gridlock Magnetron
The first carabiner with a magnetic locking mechanism! The BD Magnetron biners are super cool, and do away with the traditional means of securing the gate of the biner. Very simple to use and auto locking, the Magnetron karabiners are a revolution in karabiner design, which lets face it hasn't seen any dramatic changes for decades.
Magnets are used either side of the nose and these are released by pressing the two grippy, metal buttons on the gate closure. When the gate is closed the magnets lock automatically and can only be released by firm pressure, simulateously applied on either side of the gate buttons. Ingenious, simple and very secure.
The Gridlock Magnetron uses the same body as the standard Gridlock biner, and introduces the magnetron auto lock closure. This is an excellent biner for novices and for indoor climbing. The guess work of whether you've secured the gate fully or not, is eliminated, and the clever design of the Gridlock keeps the biner correctly orientated during belaying duties.
